Barry select landscape art form to express thoughts and feelings. However, the "scenery" is not what we usually understand , the meaning is the visual expression of "natural" is a cultural form. Beautiful garden, the idleness of the plains and forests, the activities in the scenery which innocent villagers and wild animals are just the embellishment of the landscape ideology is the motif of the landscape, the scenery described in the footnote. In fact, early landscapes in the UK mid-eighteenth century to the nineteenth century, is a visual extravaganza of the colonial adventure of the Empire. Postcards atmosphere of this visual extravaganza boom also brought up. With a large number of printed postcards spread throughout the world in order to consolidate the status of landscape painting as a visual ideology.

Landscape as a style, its significance beyond the range discussed above. The landscape style is a process of "reading", and "reading" is composed of space by the imagination and the real scenery, a "text" is a visual and verbal expression patterns. In other words, the landscape is reached in the reading of which its meaning. Or more clear: the scenery is built up in the double reading, double reading: second layer of the first re-reading of the landscape artist and the audience read. Landscape artists have never considered that he is repeating the true nature, they are "creating" is rewritten in accordance with the underlying objectives of the cultural nature. Then, the audience is notsimple and ornamental painting, they are also in their own consciousness projection screen in order to achieve the joy of the heart. Double reading visual extravaganza pushed a climax, landscape art in the climax of power, in order to achieve the purpose of passing ideologies.
Barry's work to the audience's first impression is his exquisite pencil drawing skills. All the work looks difficult to distinguish between the actual situation, even at first glance bemistaken for a series of works on black and white photography. After carefully viewing, the audience will find that these are all hand-painted works.Hypothetical about the works of creation in the form of Barry's all changed to photography, then bring the image of the audience whether there would be different?First, let's look at the hand-painted and photographic features on the similarities and differences.
